Future Developments
Braehead has a variety of future developments taking shape.
Residential development
Ferry Village – the masterplan for one of Scotland's most significant waterfront transformations has just been unveiled. The £245 million investment is a combined regeneration from Gladedale, George Wimpey, Miller Homes (Scotland West), Sovereign House Fairbriar Homes and Strathclyde Homes. The 105 acre site of derelict waterfront land will become a brand new residential community for Renfrew creating upward of 2000 homes. This area will be known as Ferry Village. Clyde Waterfront
The Clyde Waterfront project is the biggest regeneration scheme in Scotland and aims to transform areas around the River Clyde into a vibrant area to live and work. As well as business, leisure and housing developments near the river, the plans also include proposals for improved transport links and new bridges. Renfrew Riverside
It has been called one of the most important strategic locations in Scotland. Its transformation will be one of the most exciting developments in Renfrew's history. We are of course talking about the enormous Renfrew Riverside development.
Not surprisingly, a great deal of planning has gone into the project. After 20 years of work, we now have IKEA, the Titanium business park, a new Audi experience and the highly successful Braehead Shopping Centre - developed by Capital Shopping Centres in the late 1990s, at a cost of around £300m. Together they were phase I.
Phase II is the regeneration of over 185 derelict acres surrounding Braehead Shopping Centre and Retail Park. For more information, please visit www.renfrewriverside.com.
The partnership which is focused on enhancing the economy and quality of life in Renfrew Riverside, comprises:
• Capital Shopping Centres (CSC) - the UK's largest shopping centre company, owners of Braehead and the majority of land at Renfrew riverside.
• Renfrewshire Council
• Scottish Enterprise Renfrewshire - part of Scotland's main economic development agency.
• Clydeport - Scotland's premier west coast port operator and adjoining landowner to CSC.
• Park Lane - award winning property developer and investment group and adjoining landowner to CSC.
